Then, after reading Flashys last line I opt for the 'dodge it and see what he's got approach' .... only for him to attack with 12 Paladins FFS ...

Sometimes its best to err on the side of caution, and others, well, if you could kick yourself up the backside you would.
Anyway, passive defense ...... spend all, and no troops at home = pi**ed off attacker.
This time he was bluffing, or maybe thats all he has left.......
